Product Introduction

DESU® Mannitol 160C is a coarse crystalline mannitol manufactured through a secondary crystallization process. The crystal surfaces are adorned with attached micro-crystals that increase roughness and specific surface area, contributing to enhanced inter-particle binding. Its balanced particle size distribution provides both adequate flow properties and strong compression performance. With strictly controlled moisture and impurity levels, it offers excellent chemical stability and low hygroscopicity. This versatile grade is suitable for wet granulation, dry granulation, fluid bed granulation, and can also be applied in direct compression processes where coarser particles are preferred.

Product Application

DESU® Mannitol 160C offers exceptional process flexibility, performing reliably in wet granulation, dry granulation, and fluid bed granulation workflows, as well as in direct compression of oral solid dosage forms to support diverse formulation development needs. Its surface-attached microcrystals enhance inter-particle binding to ensure consistent tablet hardness and formation, while its low hygroscopicity and chemical inertness protect the stability of moisture-sensitive and degradation-prone APIs. The excipient’s cool, sweet taste makes it a suitable choice for chewable and orodispersible tablets with sensory requirements, and it also functions as an effective matrix support for lyophilized formulations to preserve freeze-dried product structure and appearance.
