Product Introduction

 

OPACT® MCPP (Co-processed D-mannitol, crospovidone, polyvinyl acetate & povidone) is a ready-to-use excipient system developed by Westpoint for the production of orally disintegrating tablets and other solid oral dosage forms. Through a proprietary granulation process, the four components are co-processed into a uniform free-flowing powder with excellent compressibility, low hygroscopicity, and superior mouthfeel. The product integrates three essential functional roles — filler, binder, and disintegrant — into a single premix. Formulators simply blend OPACT® MCPP with the active pharmaceutical ingredient and a lubricant before direct compression, significantly shortening formulation development timelines and reducing commercial production costs.

Product Application

 
OPACT® MCPP is primarily designed for orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs), where it serves as a complete functional base that only requires the addition of an active ingredient and a lubricant for direct compression. Its exceptional combination of rapid disintegration, pleasant creamy mouthfeel, and excellent compressibility makes it particularly well-suited to high-value ODT products such as sildenafil citrate ODTs, where the Ludiflash-style composition has already been proven in commercial formulations. Beyond ODTs, OPACT® MCPP can be applied to chewable tablets, granules, and powders, and is fully compatible with dry granulation processes. For novel drug developers advancing ODT formulations through IND stages, OPACT® MCPP provides a streamlined pathway to accelerate formulation work while lowering production and technical transfer risks at the NDA and commercialization phases. Customizable specifications — including bulk density and particle size distribution — are available to meet individual customer requirements.
