OPACT® SMCC 90 is a high-performance co-processed pharmaceutical excipient produced by spray-drying 98% microcrystalline cellulose with 2% colloidal silicon dioxide. With a median particle size of 125 μm, SMCC 90 delivers the best overall balance of flowability and compressibility among the SMCC series. Its large specific surface area—5 to 6 times that of standard MCC—enhances powder flow, bonding strength, drug loading capacity and tablet disintegration. SMCC 90 is the most versatile grade in the OPACT® SMCC portfolio, suitable for a broad range of direct compression and dry granulation applications in oral solid dosage forms.

OPACT® SMCC 90 serves as a versatile filler-binder for direct compression and dry granulation. Its optimized 125 μm particle size balances flow and compaction, ensuring high-speed tableting stability for high-dose APIs. The large specific surface area enhances content uniformity in low-dose formulations, while low moisture uptake protects hygroscopic drugs like TCM extracts. It is also ideal for orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs) and robust tablet cores.
