Product Application

 

RHEOL® HP55S is mainly used as an enteric coating material where a high-viscosity polymer is required to form a robust, flexible film that withstands the mechanical stresses of gastrointestinal transit. This coating provides a reliable barrier in the acidic stomach, protecting sensitive drugs and only dissolving when exposed to a pH above 5.5 in the intestines. Furthermore, its higher molecular weight makes it particularly suitable for sustained and controlled-release matrix materials, where it significantly slows down the erosion rate and extends the drug release profile. It is also applicable in the production of capsule shells, offering formulators a high-performance option for pH-dependent drug delivery systems.
